AFTERCARE
AFTERCARE
How you take care of your tattoo in the first two weeks decides how it will look for years. Follow these instructions exactly.
THE FIRST DAY
Keep the protective covering on for as long as I told you in the studio. When you remove it, wash your hands first, then wash the tattoo gently with warm water and mild, fragrance-free soap, using only your hands. Pat dry with a clean paper towel, do not rub. Apply a very thin layer of ointment. If you can see it shine, it is too much.
DAYS 2 TO 14
Wash the tattoo once or twice a day. Apply a thin layer of ointment or fragrance-free lotion 2 to 3 times a day. Wear clean, loose clothing over the area. Flaking and itching are normal. Do not pick, scratch, or peel it. Do not soak the tattoo: no baths, no pools, no hot tubs, no ocean. Quick showers are fine. Keep it out of direct sun while it heals. Once healed, sunscreen protects the work.
